Necrospire: This rogue planet drifts amongst the Orion Spur of the Milky Way Galaxy along with its 7 satellite objects. Five of these objects are natural moons (Oblis, Petrio, Quantos, Russarax, and Solaro), while the other two (Terradon and Uandris) where created by intelligent species that reside in this small celestial system.
Due to the nature of Necrospire's primary source of light and energy, the planet's climate is fairly consistent throughout the year. Its seasons are less prominent than Earth's and are only denoted by small changes in weather patterns.

I'm no expert in the way the topography of a planet is formed. However, I tried to make Necrospire's landscape as realistic as I could given what I've learned from my study of Geology. I stared by deciding the shape of the continents and tectonic plates. Then I placed the mountains and volcanoes based on that information. The formation and shape of large rivers and bodies of water naturally followed.
I wanted this planet to have some diversity in its biomes, but I figured that a few millennia of interference by terraforming-capable inhabitants would limit the amount of land dominated by deserts and swamps. It's also a convenient excuse for any inconsistencies in the topography that I'm not aware of.

With only one notable exception, the borders of the various nations are confined to the shape of the planet's landmasses. This is largely due to the largest, longest, and most recent war in Necrospire's history. The war between the Jekyle Kingdom and the Vyceroid Empire lasted hundreds of years.
The on and off fighting inspired every species on the planet to consolidate their power. The Ignarsen people are primarily aquatic and the few lands they hold are often unsuitable for large scale development. The Capitalist Union and The Tegoran Alliance each formed specifically to deter the warring factions from spilling over into their lands. The Kex Territories are notoriously difficult to invade due to the mountainous nature of the islands. The Arcane Frontier consists almost entirely of magic users and their combined might was enough to keep the two sides away. Every other nation, city state, or territory was consolidated into either the kingdom or the empire over the course of the war.
The Northern Tundra is the only landmass shared by more than one nation. The Ignarsen primarily occupy caves beneath their territory on the continent. The Arcane Frontier, with their wealth of magical power, is the only nation able to inhabit a small portion of the frigid lands.
